Privacy Policy

Summary: No third-party analytics, ads, or tracking, and no Poemir accounts. Your writings are stored on your device; if iCloud sync is on, they are also stored in your own iCloud account with Apple. Preferences stay on device and can optionally mirror via iCloud. Optional iCloud sync uses Apple's CloudKit for writings and key-value storage for preferences (including silent push for background sync). Optional Writing Tools proofread uses Apple's system intelligence when you choose it. Kids Mode is parent-gated.

Data You Create

Writings (poems and related content), SynapNotes canvases, optional Screenplay scripts, and optional library folders are stored on your device with Apple's SwiftData framework. App preferences — themes, typography, library show/sort, lyric mode, and similar settings — are stored in UserDefaults on device. Recovery snapshots for recently deleted writings and folders stay on that device only.

iCloud Sync (Optional)

If iCloud is enabled on your device, Poemir can sync writings, SynapNotes canvases, Screenplay scripts, and library folders (including membership and optional folder colors) across your Apple devices via CloudKit (iCloud.com.poemir.app), and mirror preferences via Apple's iCloud key-value storage. This means that content is sent to and stored in your iCloud account on Apple's servers. Sync is managed by Apple, encrypted by Apple, and controllable in your device's iCloud settings. Background updates may use silent Apple push notifications (no banners, sounds, or badges — only brief sync wakes so changes from your other devices can import). Poemir cannot access your Apple ID credentials or other apps' data.

Apple Writing Tools (Optional)

On supported devices, you may use Apple Writing Tools proofread from the composition toolbar. Text is processed by Apple's system intelligence — not by Poemir servers (Poemir has no servers). How Apple processes that text is governed by Apple's own privacy policy. Use is entirely optional.

Writing Proof (Optional)

Writing Proof is off by default. When you enable it in Settings, Poemir records your keystrokes with timing while you write, so you can replay the session or export it as a record of how your words were typed. Recordings are stored on your device alongside your writings, sync through your private iCloud (CloudKit) when iCloud sync is available — brief backups occur when you leave the app — and are never sent to Poemir (Poemir has no servers). Apart from that iCloud sync with Apple, they leave your device only if you export and share them yourself. You can export a proof file or video, and recordings are deleted when you delete the writing or the feature's recordings.

Offline Language Tools

Word banks, rhyme engines, syllable tools, and semantic word flow run from data bundled in the app. These tools send no poem text over the network.

What Poemir Does Not Do

No analytics or usage tracking
No advertising identifiers
No third-party crash reporting
No Poemir user accounts
No sale of your data to advertisers or data brokers
No generative AI — Poemir does not invent or rewrite your words
No third-party AI services behind Poemir's own language tools — they run on your device. (Apple Writing Tools, above, is a separate, optional Apple system feature.)

What "Data Collection" Means Here

Poemir operates no servers and receives none of your content. Poemir does not gather personal information about you, profile you, or send your content to Poemir, advertisers, or data brokers. The only outside services involved are Apple's, and only for the optional features described above: iCloud sync and Apple Writing Tools.

Apple's App Store privacy label uses a broader definition of "collected" that includes content stored in your own iCloud account. Because Poemir can sync the writings you create through your Apple ID, our App Store listing discloses User Content as linked to you and used only for app functionality. To be clear about what that does and does not mean:

Your writings are yours — they live on your device, and in your private iCloud if you enable it
Poemir never reads, receives, analyzes, or monetizes your writings
Nothing is used for tracking, advertising, or profiling — the App Store label states this as well
Turning off iCloud for Poemir in your device settings keeps your library local to that device

Children's Privacy

Poemir does not gather personal information from any user, including children under 13. There are no accounts, no advertising, and no analytics. Anything a child writes stays on the device and, if iCloud is enabled, in the family's own Apple account — the same as any other writing. Kids Mode is optional and parent-gated within the app.

This Website

The pages of poemir.com contain no analytics or advertising scripts and set no cookies. The homepage loads its typefaces from Google Fonts, so your browser requests font files from Google's servers when you view it.
